Retention of fetal bones 8 years following termination of pregnancy.

Abstract

We report on an unusual case where bone had been retained in the endometrium for a period of 8 years following termination, causing no symptoms except subfertility. Routine ultrasonography diagnosed the foreign body and this was removed by hysteroscopy assisted by ultrasound scanning. Pregnancy resulted after 6 months. A review of the literature is presented.
